Weekly Preview

Having avoided the worst of the heat, the Diamondbacks will return to Phoenix for the start of a ten game home stand that features more games against the last two teams faced, the Phillies and Rockies, as well as three against St. Louis.

The first set will be four against Philadelphia starting on Friday night at 6:40 pm. Lefty Patrick Corbin will go against an unamed Phillies starter after throwing a nice game against Philadelphia in his last outing. Saturday will be a night game at 7:10 pm and will be Star Wars night for the DBacks featuring a Paul Goldschmidt rebel pilot bobble head. Ben Lively will go for the Phillies, while the DBacks are yet to announce starters for the rest of the series.

Sunday at 1:10, Jeremy Hellickson will pitch for Philly and Monday at 12:40 pm it will be Nick Pivetta. The Cardinals will then come into town and both Tuesday and Wednesday’s games will be played at 6:40 pm. Thursday will be another get away day with a 12:40 pm start.

In addition to leading the Majors in RBI, Goldschmidt is not surprisingly leading the Majors in plate appearances with runners in scoring position (104) and average with runners in scoring position .427.
